about

In 2006 The Puddle's George D. Henderson recorded some demos at the home studio his brother Ian had set up to record an album by The Dark Beaks (FISH001). Other than the odd performance as emergency stand-in drummer for The Puddle over the years this was the first Ian had collaborated with George on recordings since they were teenagers in Invercargill. With the Wellington recordings by The Puddle from 2005 (the "Playboys in the Bush" album) not yet released the demos project quickly turned into this album “No Love – No Hate” which was released on Fishrider Records label in 2007 (FISH002). Compared to what George saw as the Ferrari of the Wellington recordings this album was a three speed bike with a basket and a bell that rings, and of mainly sentimental value. People who thought George had disappeared or died were pleasantly surprised by its release which was greeted with some modest acclaim around the world.

"Henderson sounds like a man out of time but somehow also perfectly in place... Sometimes this sounds like early 80s shambling British indie transplanted to the other side of the world and perfectly preserved, but something in the wry, fuzzy delivery is infectious. If nothing else, his future cult status has probably been preserved." The Wire (UK)
